I like HTML editors with BBCode in WordPress and totally disable the Visual Editor. However, there is only limited buttons in the default WordPress HTML editor. I found a plugin to custom the HTML editor buttions.

Extensible HTML Editor Buttons is a plugin for adding custom buttons to the WordPress HTML Editor, including custom modal dialogs.

Refer to the plugin's homepage for details of installation and configuration.

A note: it seems doesn't work very well with multi-site version of WordPress. But it works. The trick is to enable WordPress HTML Editor on each site instead of the whole network together in the network admin panel.
